A few words from my colleagues

Barbara Garza

Founder and Head of School AESA Preparatory Academy, Austin, Texas

Innately wonderful with children, academically experienced, sophisticated, worldly, highly capable, loving, caring and honest, Grainne O’Reilly is a true gem in the field of academia.

As a fellow long time educator, it is my pleasure to speak on behalf of Grainne. Grainne has a vast amount of experience with the IB academic program and, in particular, starting and maintaining high level academic programs. Grainne is a fellow educator who I am honored to align myself with. She is an educator whose opinion I would seek due to her many successful years in the academic world.

I am honored to affiliate myself with Grainne O’Reilly. Grainne is an educator who embodies the necessary attributes and educational experience to take any school she is affiliated with to the highest levels of excellence.

The most fortuitous decision I have made in my professional career to date was to work with Grainne O’Reilly. As a young teacher in the late 1990’s working with Grainne shaped my educational philosophy and laid the foundations for the success that I have experienced since. When people complement me today about the warm atmosphere, respectful children and all-round respectful atmosphere allied with high educational standards I am happy to tell them that it is all thanks to the time I spent with Grainne as a mentor.

An incredible educator with an absolute passion for her work, dedicated to ensuring that the children in her care feel like the most special children in the world. They have no doubt that they are loved and are happy to work to the best of their abilities because of this. Over the years Grainne has successfully proven time and again that she is an incredible educational leader with an excellent business mind.

Children, parents and teachers alike are quick to recognise the level of expert care and leadership that Grainne offers to a school or organisation. So many of the staff she has mentored over the years have gone on to significant leadership posts around the world.

My decision to accept a position in Grainne O’Reilly’s school has affected my career and personal growth in more positive ways than I can count. Working under Mrs. O’Reilly’s leadership has allowed me to grow immeasurably as teacher, administrator and citizen of the world.

One is immediately struck by Mrs. O’Reilly’s presence and strength of character. She has proven herself to be a woman of high morals who provides a consistent, strong role model for her students, teachers, and surrounding school community. In the five years that I worked with Mrs. O’Reilly, I witnessed her handle many potentially difficult, awkward or dangerous situations with grace, finesse and kindness. In particular, her impeccable manners and social skills have been something that I admire and aspire to emulate.

She possesses a genuine passion for child-centered education and will fiercely champion her students. I have never seen a child encounter Mrs. O’Reilly and not fall instantly in love with her; this devotion is evident in children of all ages and backgrounds. Mrs. O’Reilly also provides incredible support to her faculty and staff. She acts as a mentor, counselor, therapist, mediator, advisor, teacher, parent… the list goes on. She unhesitatingly takes on whatever role is needed, even if it is simply helping an overwhelmed teacher deal with a crying child or putting on gloves and helping a busy lunchroom serve hungry students.

In short, if your school or educational environment has a chance to work with and learn from Grainne O’Reilly, the opportunity should be seized. She inspires everyone around her to set higher goals, reach them, and keep going.
